ChargeUp Europe is committed to delivering a seamless charging experience for EV drivers, incentivising investment and creating a consumer-centric, open market model for charging infrastructure in Europe.

Our mission is to:

  • Push for an infrastructure roll-out that starts from the consumer needs.

  • Make EV driving convenient across borders and so strive for an open-market model supported by open standards and protocols.

  • Remove market barriers related to concessions, grids, data sharing and building codes.

1.    Consumer first

  • It is fundamental to deliver a consumer centric model for EV charging in Europe by developing, deploying and operating high quality charging infrastructure that serves the practical needs of EV drivers.

  • We must ensure real-time price transparency in every use case in the networks to optimize the driver experience.

  • There is a need to raise citizens understanding, incentives and support for electro-mobility.

  • We must provide quality and real-time POI data for all consumers of their networks.

  • Interoperability and choice with regard to authentication and payment systems should be a priority.

2.    Infrastructure investment and development

  • We advocate for a predictable, non-discriminatory and market-based regulatory framework for electro-mobility in Europe.

  • We support an open market model backed by forward looking regulations to create the right investment conditions for a cutting edge EV charging infrastructure.

  • We promote the synergies between the transport and energy sectors via smart and flexible charging.

  • We support strong non-financial drivers of EV charging such as ambitious building codes and a strong “right to the plug”.

  • European, national and regional funding schemes should be target oriented.

3.    Open standards and protocols

Open and uniform communication protocols and related standards in EV charging infrastructure are fundamental pre-conditions for the acceleration of the use of electric vehicles and the installation of charging stations.

4.    Safety and security

We are committed to ensuring the highest level of data protection and cybersecurity.
